Supporting Children & Young People who Self-Harm

Leicestershire Educational Psychology Service are pleased to announce that bookings for their upcoming SEND CPD Day are now open on the Leicestershire Traded Services Website.
The focus of the day will be 'Supporting Children and Young People who Self-Harm'. It will be suitable for staff with a responsibility for mental health and wellbeing and/or safeguarding, who work in primary and secondary schools, including specialist provisions.
The day has been developed in response to recent NICE Guidance (September 2022) which states that all schools should have:
- Policies and procedures to support students who self-harm.
- A Designated Lead responsible for:
Ensuring policies/ procedures are implemented and regularly reviewed/ updated,
Ensuring all staff are aware of policies/ procedures.
Delegates will be provided with:
- Information about self-harm including why children and young people may engage in this, and how to support them and their families.
- The knowledge required to enable them to write a 'Whole School Self-Harm Policy' in line with NICE Guidance (September 2022),
- An understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Designated Lead for self-harm related to NICE Guidance,
- An opportunity to begin writing a 'Whole School Self-Harm Policy'.
When: Friday 23th June 2023, 9:30 to 15:00.
Where: The day will be held at The Club Room, Park House, Stamford Street, Glenfield, LE3 8DL from
Cost: per delegate will be £75. This will include refreshments, but delegates will need to provide their own lunch.
